Ship-building
in Macau was once famed throughout Southeast
Asia. Today the industry is in decline. Modern
machines have replaced much of the manual
labour. But the workers still have to sweat
for a living. I was born and raised in Macau
- I feel I am part of the place and have an
obligation to record traditional ways of life
that are disappearing. Being lazy is one of
the main reasons why I like photography. I
like its swiftness. I can grasp the image
in just a split second. I love the developing
process in the dark room. I can manipulate
the birth of each image and regain my real
self.
