Land laid waste by Aila

Seawater still inundates Koyra twice a day through broken embankments after cyclone Aila hit the southwestern part of Bangladesh in 2008. The continuous inflow of seawater prevents cultivation of the land. Scientists estimate that it will take three to five years for the land to become arable even after the embankments get fixed.
