Photography exhibition “Defying the Laws of Gravity” at London’s leading multicultural arts venue, Rick Mix
Defying the Laws of Gravity, an exhibition of world-class photography by seven Bangladeshi photographers held between 5-28 March 2015 at London’s leading multicultural arts venue, Rich Mix.
Majority World’s Chairman and Managing Director of Drik, Shahidul Alam introduced the exhibition by describing the journey of Bangladeshi photographers including his own – from the country’s brutal birth through the war of independence to the vibrant nation it is today.
The exhibition showcased seven Bangladeshi photographers who are at the forefront of one of the most powerful photographic movements of our time – one that challenges injustice and takes rightful ownership of the visual narrative of Bangladesh past, present, and future.
The exhibition was also a celebration of a group of extraordinary sister organisations all based in Bangladesh and founded by the same visionary, Shahidul Alam. Pathshala (training institute), Drik (multimedia organisation), Chobi Mela (international festival of photography) and Majority World (global photo agency) created a revolution in the global photographic industry.
