Dhaka, 24 April, 2012: The World Press Photo Exhibition will be on at Drik Gallery from 26 April to 18 May 2012 providing photography practitioners and enthusiasts a privileged view of the best in photo documentation.
This traveling exhibition, unique in its kind, is the result of a worldwide annual contest on press photography and is brought to Dhaka with the support of Drik and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dhaka. Afsan Chowdhury, Professor, BRAC University, Guest of Honour and H.M. Ambassador Alphons Hennekens, Kingdom of the Netherlands will officially open the exhibition.
Each year, an independent international jury, consisting of nineteen members, judges the entries in nine different categories, submitted by photojournalists, agencies, newspapers and magazines from all corners of the world. This year’s competition attracted 5,247 photographers from 124 countries. In total 101,254 images were entered in the contest.
