Drik’s calendar is an interesting exercise where the popular calendar medium in Bangladesh, which traditionally features
pretty pictures and religious motifs, has been used to address important social issues. Published regularly since its inception in 1989, the calendar has also become an important archive of current photographic trends and a showcase for the finest photographers in the country. Recently the calendar has been used to promote the work of working class children and that of emerging students. The popular calendar has become a trendsetter and has stimulated larger organizations to use the medium to address social issues.
