‘Border that Bleeds’ by Parvez Ahmad Rony

In memory of Felani Khatun, who was killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on 7 January 2011, an exhibition titled ‘Border that Bleeds’ by Parvez Ahmad Rony was held in cooperation with Drik. The show was inaugurated by Adilur Rahman Khan, Human Rights Activist and the Founder of Odhikar Hon. Adviser for Housing and Public Works of Bangladesh and Shahidul Alam, Photographer, Activist, Curator and Managing Director of Drik Picture Library on 7 January 2025 in the afternoon. Felani Khatun was killed and hunged on a barbed wire for five hours by the BSF. Even after almost a decade and a half, Felani's murder has not been prosecuted to this day. So far, the BSF has brutally killed about 1400 civilian Bangladeshi citizens on the India-Bangladesh border.

Parvez Ahmed Rony has worked on this issue on various borders with India and Bangladesh from 2012 to 2024. 24 selected photographs from his work were exhibited in 'Border That Bleeds'. Felani's mother, Jahanara Begum, and father, Noor Islam, were also present during the inauguration.
