It grew from an attempt to build up a database of media
practitioners in the South that is now a thriving network
between some of the most exciting media organisations in
South Asia. The small media company in Risor (Norway), we
were working with has long since closed, and the African
partners have each gone their own way, but the
Drikpartnership has grown and now includes Aina, a media
resource centre in Afghanistan, the multimedia company
B.I.T.S. in Pakistan, Drik India a smaller version of the parent
company, The Nepal College of Journalism and Mass
Communication, the award winning television distribution
company, Television for Education Asia Pacific (TVEAP) in Sri
Lanka and Drik itself. The partnership, which involves an
exchange of professionals between partner organisations, is
supported by Fredskorpset, a Norwegian public body aimed at
promoting Norway’s cooperation with majority world countries.
